  this was in australia, but the khs i've seen (in the us) are designed so that you'd have to almost intentionally want to ram a building to cause this kind of damage.

  I think actual road test should be required. My mother lost her driver's license after being involved in 2 accidents that costs the insurance company $150,000. My dumb _ _ _ sister said well since she lives in a gated community she can still drive around the community. My response have you seen how she drives the golf cart? No she does not need to be driving anything that has any form of a motor because she is already drunk before she gets dressed in the morning. I would normally hang up about then because that is when she would start to cuss me out.

  My estranged husband lost his license in his early 60'S. I felt like a cab driver.

  How was your day/ week thread?

  this thread is for when you have to say something to get it out of the system, whether it is happy or sad.

  my reason for stating the thread is that on occasion some threads do tend to get a little heated here, and maybe this thread will enable us to reflect on the important fact, we are real people and not just dots on a computer screen.. i would love to start the thread with a bang, but nothing of particular interest has happened, only i do hope the weather improves as the climate i live in has been sadly chilly for the time of year, (if you get the deeper meaning).

  Thanks Rebel,

  The Rebel part of the name is what my mother called all my life and I earned every bit of it and still do.

  The Fighter part of the name is what what the "Elder" called me because I fight everything I disagree with no matter what is right or wrong.

  Rebel,

  My wish for you is much better weather. Two years ago I moved to accomplish just that, at 7 AM I am sitting outside with my coffee and typing. I know you can hate me for that. Our change of seasons are 20 to 30 degrees. And recovery occurs during the day normally.

  hello everybody,i've been lurking for a while and since i really adore reading the biggest part of the posts, especially this italian ( american) guy about his experiences at bethel in the 70's, i feel a little bit guilty for not participating with my contribute.

  i am really so sorry for the people that are suffering because of the wts.my story is a " happy ending " story, i married a jw almost 30 years ago and i am here to tell that we are still very happy.

  she is very liberal and our 3 kids are " normal ".

  Welcome Roberto to the forum. What a very sad story for your father in law. You did not give his age at the time of the bladder cancer diagnosis. I was 50 when I received the same horrible news and 75% of my bladder was covered in tumors. I did not require a transfusion and I have been cancer free for 15 years.

  should a teen, a child of a believing mother, cooperate in the fact-gathering of the elders into the waywardness (not sex related, hopefully) of some local teenagers?

  Never a JW but trained to work with a youth group of young ladies between the ages of 10 and 20. We are Certified Adult Volunteers, we are trained to recognize all forms of emotional, physical and sexual abuse if we suspect it is coming from the home or is serious we immediately call authorities. If we suspect which far to often now a days we have parents who are not involved in their children's lives we will sit down with the parent and gently suggest that you might keep a closer eye on your child as we suspect she maybe getting involved in whatever behavior that maybe leading her down a wrong path. From what I have read on this forum that is far from the mission of any Elder body. We as adult leaders are there to guide these young ladies through good times as well as bad times AND young ladies have a lot of melt downs during their teen years and need that shoulder to cry on. And they can cry over the craziest things but that is part of growing up but we are there for them. Tell me that an Elder has that kind of patience, they just want to take action.

  well it finally happened!

  we have been waiting about a year for this, my dfd husbands family asked us for money.

  even though his own father hasn't met our 8 month old son.

  The sad thing is this behavior actually happens in families outside of the cult as well. No one in my family was in the cult and there were only three of us my mother and a sister. I was considered a part of the family ONLY when I was writing someone checks otherwise all Hell was the name of the game. The most abusive phone calls, they even confronted my children offering to take them in because we know your mother is not good. Of course my kids came straight to me and reported this crazy behavior. It took till I was 60 to cut all ties with these people. My kids cut ties with them long before I did.

  For the struggling faders and control freaks

  i see people struggling with maintaining control over their reactions to their witness relatives and something struck me that i'd like to share.

  as a jw you're taught that you should have unlimited self-control.

  article after article, talk after talk, about controlling your impure thoughts, feelings, music, movies, speech, actions, literally everything a human could struggle with.

  Excellent post, never a JW but this is soooo very true. It took the "Elder", the County Sheriff and Social Services to convince me that I could not continue carrying for my ALZ mother. She was extremely violent and as the Sheriff said we are watching your house for your safety one of these calls unfortunately is going to be to take you to the hospital when she seriously hurts you, she has no clue what she is doing.

  The really bad part was at the time I had three people in my life that was extremely toxic, I finally wised up and walked away from 2 of them and threatened the 3rd that he would be homeless if he did not straighten up.

  I am a much happier person today and when someone starts their crap I either hang up the phone or walk away. They now know it is over I am not going to be walked all over, end of game. Sad part is it took 60 years to get to this point.

  there was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.

  when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.

  " now my husband and i are what you might call old hippies.

  I am totally with you on the natural foods and now all my doctors have resorted to finding any natural remedies possible before writing a prescription. They are simply done with all the allergic reactions and drug sensitivity. I am in my mid 60'S and all my numbers are right on, normally workout on a daily basis, eat extremely healthy and the only medication which I take is a very high dose of a migraine preventative that is unavoidable.

  what buzz word from the jw's do you hate & why?

  so my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?

  because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.

  Here are two more the "Elder" used that drove me nuts:

  Satin - I finally told him in the last email do not mention him again because I swear you worship Satin rather than Jehovah.

  We will see - he used this phrase everytime he needed to say NO, the man could not say the word no.
